Why I Built tahc: A Personal Story
From Drift breaking down to building an AI-first, mobile-first, human-in-the-loop chat platform.
The Tool I Trusted Let Me Down
For years, I relied on Drift to power conversations for FlowVella — our customers, our users, our team. It was the center of how we communicated. I believed in what Drift promised: real, human conversation at scale.
Then everything changed.
The founders left. Drift was sold to SalesLoft. The momentum vanished. The product stopped evolving. Then came a security breach, handled poorly — trust gone. Soon after, the mobile app broke. Notifications failed. Conversations disappeared.
The tool I trusted to connect people started letting them down.
So I decided to build something better.
Not Another Chatbot
I didn't want to build another chatbot. The world has enough of those — scripted, robotic, frustrating. I wanted to build what Drift should have become: AI-first, mobile-first, and human-in-the-loop.
The vision was simple:
- AI handles the routine — answering FAQs, pulling context, resolving simple questions instantly
- Humans step in when it matters — for judgment, nuance, trust, and the moments that require a real person
- Mobile-first — because I was tired of being tied to a desktop to respond to customers
What is AI Hybrid Chat?
AI Hybrid Chat is a new category of customer communication. It's not a chatbot with a "talk to human" button bolted on. It's not live chat with AI features sprinkled in. It's an AI-orchestrated, human-in-the-loop system where AI and humans work together by design — not as a fallback.
Building with a Lean, Focused Team
tahc isn't backed by venture capital. There's no marketing department. No bloated roadmap driven by investor expectations.
It's being built deliberately:
- By someone with 30 years of experience shipping web and mobile software
- With a small circle of trusted collaborators
- Using modern AI tools — not as replacements, but as force multipliers
This approach means tahc can stay focused on what matters: building software that actually helps people have better conversations. No feature bloat. No enterprise complexity. Just the tools you need to talk to your customers.

I'm not trying to copy what came before. I'm building what should exist next.
